Marilyn Monroe new figure "1961 Golden Globe Award"
Once again, the artist Susana Adalid from Madrid, Spain is bringing to life another astonishing Statue of Marilyn Monroe titled "1961 Golden Globe Award".This piece of art is 21 inches tall and beautifully detailed with life like expression capturing her voluptuous body and her translucent skin.
Marilyn Monroe was awarded numerous awards during her lifetime but, in March 1962 she received a Golden Globe Award from the Foreign Press. She was named "The Worlds Film Favorite" for 1961. While others claiming that she was "all washed up" the Foreign Press presented her with this award which is consider it’s highest honor. She attended the ceremony wearing a Norman Norell, backless full length gown of emerald green jersey, heavily embroidered with matching sequins, decorated with inset waistband. This same dress was auctioned off at Christie’s in October 1999 and went for over $85,000.00. The story behind this dress was that Marilyn had lost so much weight and it didn’t fit her properly around the breast area. So she had it alter for that night and made it into kind of a halter gown. This is the reason why you see these open holes on the side top of the dress.
This amazing sculpture wears this same emerald green sequin gown the way she wore it at the Golden Globe Awards. Each sequin is applied individual. She wears a replica of the stunning pair of emerald earrings that were giving to her by Frank Sinatra. Also, holding a replica of the Golden Globe Award. These details gives her that touch of realistic which Susana Adalid is known for. This is the 4th collection with number 3 in a series of 4 limited to 5 each worldwide. This 4th collection will follow in the future with number 4 in a series of 4 limited to 5 each worldwide and of course each of the different pieces will represent various outfits from various special occasions or movie costumes.
